The 8th grade dance will be taking place on the evening of  June 9th.  It is an evening dinner/dance located at the TapRock Event Center.  Most 8th graders choose to attend this dance and many dress up for it.  For boys, it is pretty simple.  Standard dress code applies.  Some boys wear school clothes to the dance while others dress up in a shirt and tie.   For girls, many choose to wear party dresses, some more formal than others.  It is important that girls follow dress code when selecting their dresses. Last year, a few girls were asked to leave the dance due to issues with their clothing.  Most party dresses in stores will not be dress code appropriate, but they can be found.  You may also choose to alter dresses to get them to work.  Students can come in and see Mrs. Cauble for suggestions on how to make a dress fit the dress code.  The dress code requirements are as follows:

  • No strapless tops
  • No spaghetti straps, 2 inch wide straps are required
  • Ribbon/fabric can be safety pinned onto a strapless dress or a spaghetti strap dress to pass dress code.
  • If a sweater or cover-up is needed to make the outfit dress code appropriate, this item must not be taken off during the dance.
  • No plunging necklines
  • No bare backs, this includes halter tops
  • No exposed bras/bra straps
  • Skirts must be fingertip length or longer.
