The care and feeding of your brain:
“Kenntnis” is German for “experiential learning.” “Wissenschaft” is German for “book learning.” Both have their place in our lives. After all, you don’t have enough money or time to gain direct experience in everything you’d like to learn about. But if you spent your life just _reading_ about something, you might miss a few key details that you’d have picked up if you were learning through experience, and you’d have difficulty translating what you read into direct experience. If you play an instrument, or a sport, what type of learning is that? If you read a biographical book, which type of learning is that? Which type of learning do you like to do better? Which subjects in school teach you primarily by Kenntnis? Which subjects teach you through Wissenschaft?
