Track and Field had a great year for varsity players. They ranked first in the John Franke, the Medford Rotary Relays, the Crater Classic, the 65th Grants Pass Rotary Invitational, and second in the SouthWest Conference District meet.
Head coach Jenner Yriarte said, “The JV teams had equal success going 12-0 in their Dual Meets, so the future looks bright going into 2015.”
This year there were many district champions, including Drake Brennan for Shot and Discus, Dustin Harrah for High Jump, and Deshae Wise for 100 Hurdles.
In addition, two school records were broken by Brennan for discus throwing; 172 feet and change. The other record broken was made by Joanna Galli with pole vault bar at 10’7”.

Overall, GP had the most combined placers at districts between the two teams in recent years. 15 GPHS track athletes were sent to state, having placed in the top two for their event at districts.
At state, held at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., Harrah took home the state title in high jump.  Brennan also took home his second state title in discus. Overall, the boys team placed third overall at state.
