If you haven’t heard of the indie-pop quartet American Authors and their debut EP "Oh, What A Life," then you will soon.
The up and coming band released their ubiquitous single "Best Day Of My Life" last summer, and since then they’ve only been growing bigger.
Founded when all four members were at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, American Authors is clearly a band that has a lot of talent, and uses it well.
"Oh, What A Life" provides the perfect mix of catchy songs with both enough musical and lyrical depth to keep you interested in the songs. The album doesn’t have a lot of variety - the songs "Luck" and "Hit It" in particular sound really similar to each other - but when the style is so good already, why should they try to switch it up?
Despite the melancholy title of the album, Oh, What A Life is the perfect album to listen to in the summer. The upbeat guitars and catchy hooks present in every song are great to sing along to, and the lyrics are easy enough to learn.
The album is really solid as a whole, but the best songs on it are "Believer" and "Home," and of course "Best Day Of My Life."
Overall, "Oh, What A Life" is a great album that should be on everyone’s playlist soon.
