Parkside was honored and so very excited to host Bess the Book Bus on April 22nd!

Bess the Book Bus started in Florida four weeks ago, and travels all over the United States making stops at schools to share the gift of reading.  Jenn and Dave, the AMAZING Bess the Book Bus crew, read our eager Kindergarten and first grade students two fun-filled books.  After story time, every Kindergarten and first grade student was invited to visit the Book Bus and personally pick out a brand new book of their very own to keep!

The excitement at Parkside was contagious!  Walking into classrooms, students rushed up to share their new books.  After our 5th grade Strings students played a song for Jenn and Dave, they were invited out to the bus as well for a brand new book.  Mr. Pennington's Life Skills classroom was also able to be part of our experience with Bess the Book Bus.  They loved their books so much that they didn't want to stop enjoying the books, even at snack time!  The Bess the Book Bus program gifted approximately 150 books to Parkside students on their visit.

Bess the Book Bus program is made possible through book donations from such publishers as Scholastic, Chronicle Books, Towns & Press, Capstone Publishing, and many other companies.  The program also has corporate sponsorships as well as independent donors.

Parkside staff and students cannot thank the Bess the Book Bus program enough for their generosity and their dedication to instill the love and excitement of reading in our students.  Please check out the Bess the Book Bus program and learn more about this heartwarming program that touches so many lives every day!
