
The Grants Pass High School Brain Bowl Team consists of eight students who have excelled academically and continue to impress other Brain Bowl teams and coaches in Southern Oregon. Team members include Mason Pratt, Quinnton Branch, Ryder Canepa, Joseph Drevets, CJ Stott, Gage Flaming, Connor Pratt, and Kyle Morin. Questions for the competitions come from all subject areas and students are expected to quickly know the answer and buzz in first to receive points.
For the first competition of the year at Southern Oregon University, the team went undefeated and was ranked 2nd at the end of the day. The team is one of four from Southern Oregon to make it to the Southern Oregon TV Finals April 27th which will air at 5:30 pm on Channel 8. Along with making the TV finals, the team was also given the varsity sportsmanship award for their respect to other teams, players, coaches, and volunteers.
Besides making the Southern Oregon TV Finals, the Grants Pass High School Brain Bowl team has also qualified for Nationals by winning the First Annual Saint Mary’s Tournament. The High School National Championship Tournament will take place May 30-June 1, 2014 in Chicago, Illinois. The field for the tournament is limited to 272 teams and the Grants Pass High School team has been selected to participate.
These students are highly motivated and have represented Grants Pass and continue to work hard to continue their success.
