On Friday, April 4th, Denise May and Mona Pinon were presented with awards at the Oregon PTA Conference in Portland.

Denise May is an educational aide at Parkside and is best know by many as the crossing guard on Bridge Street. Denise's friendly smile, wave, and ocassional dance every morning brightens the day of everyone driving by.  She was chosen by the Oregon State PTA for this year's Classified Staff Hero of the Year Award based on her dedication, love, and encouragement she has given students, staff, parents, and the Grants Pass community for the last 10 years.

Mona Pinon is a Parkside PTA member who has been pivotable in Parkside's Blue Slide Project. The Blue Slide Project was established to build a wheelchair accessible playground at Parkside. Mona was chosen by the Oregon State PTA for this year's Champion for Children Award for her hard work to make Parkside's wheelchair accessible playground a reality. The Blue Slide Project will be completed this summer, making Parkside's playground user friendly for all children in our community.

We hope you will join us in congratulating these two ladies for all of their hard work and dedication to the children and people in the Grants Pass community.
