Congratulations to “The Book Binders” of Allen Dale Elementary for winning the 3rd Annual District Battle of the Books Competition! This year’s final battle competition was fierce between first place winning team “The Book Binders”, second place winner “The Mega Reading Champions” from Highland and third place winner “Reading Redwood Roadrunners”. Great job everyone!
The competition held on March 12th at Lincoln Elementary consisted of 2 teams from each of the district’s six elementary schools. Teams selected to participate in the District BOTB were the top 2 teams in their school battle competitions. District teams were comprised of 3 to 4, third through fifth grade students. These students participated at the District level in three round-robin battle sessions from which the 3 highest scoring teams took the stage for the final battle round competition. The final battle consisted of all three teams each answering 10 questions each. To receive the full 8 points per question, teams needed to answer not only the correct author but the book title.
All teams worked hard studying elements from 10 different books. All participants were honored with a certificate. First, second and third place teams received a trophy for each member. Allen Dale took home the traveling trophy to celebrate this year’s hard work!
Thanks to all of the battle coordinators, participants, and Lincoln Elementary for helping to make this year’s District Battle of the Books competition another great battle!

One of our teams, the Mega Reading Champions, took second place over all. Congratulations!
