The Grants Pass Wind Ensemble won their league festival at South Eugene High School this past Friday. The wind ensemble will be performing at Oregon State University on May 16th at the annual OSAA State Band Contest. 20 bands from the 6-A level earn their spot to perform at State by either winning their league festival OR scoring a minimum of 75 points from 2 of 3 judges at any given OSAA State Qualifying Festival.
Our wind ensemble scored an 84 (from the symphony director at OSU), 83 (former director of bands from UO), and 77 (director of bands at Lane Community College).
Over the course of the past 2 months, the wind ensemble has worked with several guest conductors in their festival preparation. Band directors from George Fox University, Oregon State University, the University of Oregon, and Southern Oregon University have each spent hours working with our students.
