The District #7 Honor Choir began in 1998, and continues to be a unique and memorable event for our vocal music students. All six elementary schools, both middle schools, and the high school take part in the Honor Choir event, representing grades 4-12.
Through participation in this special event students are challenged to sing advanced music in a professional setting while experiencing a variety of instructional techniques from the diverse D7 music staff. They are also introduced to other D7 students, from various grade levels, who share their interests and talents creating continuity in the D7 vocal music programs.
Tryouts are conducted at the elementary and middle school sites where students are evaluated and selected based on vocal ability, desire and behavior. Rehearsals are held at each school site for several weeks until the event date, when all participants join together at one site for large group rehearsals culminating in an evening performance for family, friends, and the GP Community.
This year’s Honor Choir delighted the crowd with their March 15th performance at the GPHS Performing Arts Center.
